The Kia Sportage strikes me much like the Kia Rondo does. It isn't spectacular in any one area, but it does lots of things well, and the prices are right.

Sportage (and by extension, the Hyundai Tucson) is one of the oldest designs in the compact-SUV class, and it's starting to show its age. It's slow and doesn't have the well-polished feel of its rivals from Honda, Saturn, and Toyota. CR-V, Vue, and RAV4 are better vehicles overall, but Sportage is worth a look based on its value pricing and strong warranty coverage.
Jennifer Geiger
Compared to more refined competition like CR-V and Grand Vitara, Sportage felt old and crude. Overly light steering and poor bump absorption at highway speeds made for an unsettling ride.
Tom Appel
Value pricing is the draw here. For the price of a 4-cylinder CR-V (the only way they come) you can be enjoying a V6 Sportage. Not that Sportage is all that quick with the V6, but it's fine. Sportage is no longer in the top tier of mini utes, but is affordable, nicely packaged, and comes with a great warranty.
