Vehicle Highlights

The 2008 GMC Savana gets a standard tire pressure monitoring system, curtain side air bags, and a new interior, with expanded information console that displays maintenance reminders and vehicle status information. Savana vans are cousins to the Chevrolet Express. Passenger models are called Savana Passenger Vans, cargo versions Savana Cargo Vans. Half-ton 1500s come only in regular length; 3/4-ton 2500s and 1-ton 3500s come in regular or extended length. All models have two swing-open rear cargo doors and, on the passenger side, either 60/40 doors or a sliding door. Optional on regular length models are 60/40 doors on the driver side. Regular-length Passenger Vans seat 8-12 people, extended-length Passenger Vans carry 12-15. The front seats are buckets; others are benches which can be removed. Cargo models have two front bucket seats along with metal side and rear panels in place of windows. Newly optional on cargo models without the driver-side 60/40 doors are pop-up access panels where the side windows would normally be. A 195-hp 4.3-liter V6 is standard on light-duty Cargo models. Four V8s are offered: a 279-hp 4.8 liter, a 301-hp 5.3 liter, and a 323-hp 6.0 liter. A turbodiesel 250-hp 6.6-liter V8 is optional on 2500/3500 Cargo van. A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard on all models. All-wheel drive is available on 1500 regular-length Cargo and Passenger models; All-wheel-drive models are designated H1500 and H2500. Rear-drive versions carry on as G1500/2500/3500. Available safety features include ABS, an antiskid system, dual-front airbags, and new curtain side airbags. Optional equipment includes rear air conditioning, access panels with keyless remote release in place of side windows, a fuel-operated auxiliary heater, a limited slip differential, a CD player, heated power mirrors with turn signals, and a heavy-duty alternator.
