2008 Ford Fusion Review
The 2008 Ford Fusion gets some new available features. This midsize sedan shares its basic design with the Mazda 6, Mercury Milan, and premium-midsize Lincoln MKZ. Fusion offers S, SE, and SEL models. A 160-hp 2.3-liter 4-cylinder engine is standard, and a 221-hp 3.0-liter V6 is available. The 4-cylinder uses a 5-speed manual transmission or an optional 5-speed automatic. The V6 has a 6-speed automatic. All 4-cylinder Fusions are front-wheel drive. V6 SE and SEL models are available with all-wheel drive. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, curtain side airbags, and front side airbags. Newly available features include rear obstacle detection and Ford Sync, a voice-activated system for controlling cell phones and MP3 players.
Competition
Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Midsize Cars represent the heart of the U.S. car market. Most are price-sensitive, conservatively designed, family oriented sedans and wagons.

Our Best Buys include Honda Accord and Kia Rondo. Our Recommended picks are the Ford Fusion, Hyundai Sonata, Kia Optima, Mazda 5, Mercury Milan, Nissan Altima, Saturn Aura, and Toyota Camry.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Chevrolet Malibu, Dodge Avenger, Honda Accord, and Mazda 5.

News
The 2009 Fusion and Milan are said to be in for a cosmetic freshening if current plans hold.
