The 2008 Dodge Ram 2500/3500 gets an electric-shift transfer case standard on 4-wheel drive SLT and Laramie models, and a tire-pressure monitoring system standard on all models with a Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) of less than 10,000 lb.

Rams come in 3/4-ton 2500 and 1-ton 3500 models. Regular cab and 4-door Quad Cab crew cab are offered. The Regular Cab and Quad Cab offer 6.3-ft- and 8-ft-long cargo beds. Regular cabs seat up to three passengers. Quad cabs seat up to six. All versions offer rear-wheel drive or 4-wheel drive that should not be left engaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. Dual rear wheels are available on 3500s. Chrysler's 345-hp 5.7-liter Hemi V8 engine is standard on all 2500 models. Optional on all models is the turbodiesel 350-hp 6.7-liter 6-cylinder engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard on all models. Optional automatic transmissions are a 5-speed on the Hemi, and a 6-speed on the diesel.

Available safety features include ABS, dual front airbags, and front and rear curtain side airbags. Optional equipment includes a sunroof, trailer-tow mirrors, leather upholstery, and a navigation system.
