After skipping the 2007 show, Geely returned to Detroit this year with open-ended promises of U.S.-ready product sometime in the future.
This year Geely presented two production vehicles, both of which are currently available in China. The FC sedan features Geely's G-Power four-cylinder engine. Here the powerplant develops 102 kilowatts (about 140 horsepower) and mates to either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Geely provided no information about FC pricing or sales volume.
Also on display was Geely's LT1 taxi cab. Built under license from London Taxi, the cab is in China and several export markets.
Geely was vague about its timetable for U.S. sales, but noted it was making progress in reaching U.S. federal crash safety requirements.
