2009 YES! Roadster 3.2
The 2009 Roadster 3.2 is powered by Audi's 3.2-liter V6 that makes 255 horsepower in the standard version and 355 horsepower in the turbocharged version. Each model will be available with packages that increase power--the Roadster 3.2 can be bumped up to 285 horsepower, while the 3.2 Turbo can be bumped to 415 horsepower. YES! estimates that the base model will make it from 0-60 in 4.8 seconds, and the Turbo version should shave a full second off that mark. Fuel economy estimates are 25 mpg for base models; 22 on the Turbo.
The rear-wheel-drive Roadster 3.2 comes with a six-speed manual transmission or available five-speed automatic, while the 3.2 Turbo is available only with a six-speed manual. The Roadster 3.2 comes with a driver-adjustable suspension and a soft or hard top. Its doors open scissor-style. Seventeen-inch wheels are standard, and 18-inchers are available. Antilock brakes are optional, as are heated seats, air conditioning, and a navigation system. The sportier 3.2 Turbo adds standard 18-inch wheels and available 19-inch wheels.
The YES! Roadster will compete with the Porsche Boxster and the Audi TT in the premium sporty/performance car class.
YES! is part of Funke & Will, a small German manufacturer that makes each car individually, as opposed to using mass production. A team of six mechanics assembles each vehicle. Each mechanic will sign his or her name to a special plate mounted in every vehicle.
Base model prices start at $77,995 and $97,995 for the 3.2 Turbo model. YES! plans to announce which American dealerships they are working with in late February. Look for a June on-sale date.
