2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS

2008 Porsche Cayenne GTS
The Cayenne GTS will be powered by a tweaked version of the 4.8-liter direct-injection V8 found in the S. In this guise, the V8 will crank out 405 horsepower, which will reach the wheels through either a six-speed automatic transmission or a six-speed manual. This is the first time a six-speed manual has been made available in a V8 Cayenne. Like other Cayennes, the GTS will have all-wheel drive. Porsche claims a 0-60 time of 5.7 seconds.
Cayenne GTS rides on 21-inch wheels and tires. Porsche says the Cayenne GTS will have an air suspension with Porsche Active Suspension Management (PASM), which allows drivers to adjust ride and handling settings for either sport or comfort.
The GTS has a lower stance than other Cayennes, and the front-end design is similar to that of the Turbo. However, the wheel arches are new to accommodate the 21-inch wheels. According to Porsche, the interior will have redesigned front seats in order to offer a "sportier look and feel." The seats will be swathed in Alcantara, which Porsche says will hold the driver and passenger in place during vigorous driving. The Cayenne GTS will be available in two model-specific colors: Nordic Gold and GTS Red.
At $69,300, the Cayenne GTS will slot in below the $93,700 Turbo but above the $57,900 S. Porsche is aiming the GTS at buyers who want something even sportier than the S, but either can't afford or don't want to splurge on the Turbo. The GTS' lower prices and the availability of a manual transmission may make it even more appealing to those folks who want Porsche sportiness along with SUV utility.
The 2008 Cayenne GTS will go on sale in February.
