2008 Chevrolet Uplander Review
The 2008 Chevrolet Uplander gets no major changes as it heads into what is likely its final model year. Uplander remains the only minivan GM makes. Similar Buick, Saturn, and Pontiac versions have all been discontinued. A regular base model comes in LS trim and is 8 inches shorter in wheelbase than extended-length models. Extended versions come in LS and LT trims. All have a 240-hp 3.9-liter V6 engine that can run on gasoline or E85 ethanol fuel. A 4-speed automatic transmission is standard. Available safety features include ABS, traction control, antiskid system, and side airbags. Uplanders seat seven via 2nd-row buckets and a 50/50 split 3rd-row bench that folds flat atop the cargo floor. All these seats are removable. Power operation for one or both sliding side doors is standard or optional, depending on model.
Competition
Consumer Guide Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Long the choice as a family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo. These vehicles offer a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.

Our Best Buys are the Chrysler Town and Country, Dodge Grand Caravan, and Honda Odyssey. Our Recommended picks are the Hyundai Entourage, Kia Sedona, and Toyota Sienna.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Chrysler Town and Country and Dodge Grand Caravan.

News
Uplander bows out after model-year 2009, our sources say. In its place comes a large crossover wagon on General Motors' new Lambda platform: the 2009 Chevrolet Traverse.
