Vehicle Highlights

This new SUV is based on the 4Runner, but has styling inspired by Toyota's 1960s-era Land Cruisers. FJ Cruiser seats five and has two main doors, two rear-hinged rear access doors, and no pillar between. A swing-out cargo door has opening glass and mounts the spare tire. FJ comes with rear-wheel drive or with 4-wheel drive. The only engine is a 239-hp V6. Automatic transmission is standard. The 4WD version is also available with manual transmission. Two 4WD systems are used. Both have low-range gearing, but only the 4WD system used with manual transmission can be left engaged on dry pavement. Rear-drive FJs include a limited-slip rear differential. A locking rear differential is standard with manual transmission and 4WD, optional otherwise. All FJs have ABS, traction/antiskid control, and mud and snow tires. Available with 4WD is Toyota's A-TRAC off-road traction control system. Front side airbags and curtain side airbags are optional, as are rear obstacle detection, and an inclinometer showing vehicle tilt.
