Jeep's 172-horsepower, 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine mates with either a five-speed manual gearbox or a continuously variable transmission (CVT). A Compass may have front-drive or all-wheel drive. Some 2WD Compass models with CVT contain a lower-powered 2.0-liter engine, which was a credit option when new.
