Our tone is valid, but we need to alter our text to say the Maxima isn't bettered by TL, CTS, and G35 for performance and refinement, but by nameplate prestige.
Rick Cotta
Maxima perhaps suffers more from perception than any actual shortcomings. At nearly $36,000, our loaded SE is priced in premium sedan territory, yet doesn't carry a premium name. But there's little here to fault in the car itself, and the better value might be the $30,000 SL.
