V6s feel lazy with automatic transmission; Hyundai says 8.2 sec 0-60. Automatic saps midrange punch, but manual shift gate compensates some.

Large, sharp bumps register clearly, and rippled surfaces can induce nervous jiggle. But solid structure helps mitigate harshness, and even SE, with firmest suspension, is reasonably supple for a sporty coupe.

Dashboard recalls sporty Audi TT design, has upscale blue night lighting. Gauges legible, if a tad small. Controls mostly simple, handy. Some drivers may find tilt steering wheel doesn't lift high enough for leg clearance. Good-looking cabin trim belies pricing, includes ample soft-touch surfaces.

It's not that quick or refined even with the V6, and the basic design is aging, but Tiburon is a solid, capable sporty coupe. Budget-friendly prices and Hyundai's long warranties make it a good alternative to the Scion tC or a high-line Honda Civic coupe.
