Vehicle Highlights

Chevrolet gives its minivans more power but takes away all-wheel-drive models for 2007. Two body lengths and two trim levels are offered. Regular length models are offered only in LS trim. Extended-length models are 8-inches longer and come in LS and uplevel LT trim.

For 2007, a 240-horsepower 3.9-liter V6 replaces the 2006 Uplander's 201-horse 3.5 V6. A 4-speed automatic remains the only transmission. All Uplanders have ABS. Traction/antiskid control is optional on regular-length models, standard otherwise. Load-leveling suspension is optional. Uplanders seat seven via 2nd-row buckets and a 50/50 split 3rd-row bench that folds flat atop the cargo floor. All these seats are removable. Front side airbags and rear side airbags are available. The Buick Terraza and Saturn Relay minivans with which Uplander shared its basic design have been discontinued.

COMPETITION

Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. Long the choice as a family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo. These vehicles offer a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.

Our Best Buy is the Honda Odyssey. Our Recommended picks are the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, Hyundai Entourage, Kia Sedona, and Toyota Sienna.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Hyundai Entourage and Nissan Quest.
