2007 Chevrolet Aveo Review
Sedan versions of Chevrolet's smallest car get revised body work for 2007. Aveo sedans retain the wheelbase of 2004-2006 models, but are 3 inches longer overall and have freshened exterior and interior styling. The Aveo 4-dr hatchback is called Aveo5 for '07, but it repeats the styling and features of the 2004-2006 model. LS trim returns for both body styles. The base SVM model now comes only as a hatchback. The sole engine is a 103-hp 4-cyl with a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed automatic. Front side airbags are standard; curtain side airbags are unavailable. SVM and LS models have 14-inch wheels; 15s are optional on LS hatchbacks, standard on LT. Newly standard on sedans is a digital audio player plug-in. Optional are ABS and sunroof.
Competition
Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 18 classes based on size, price, and market position. The subcompact class is made up of the smallest hatchbacks, sedans, and wagons on the market. These are generally considered economy cars.

Our Best Buys include the Hyundai Accent and Kia Rio. Our Recommended picks are the Honda Fit and Toyota Yaris.

New or significantly redesigned models include the Hyundai Accent, Honda Fit and Suzuki SX4.
News
There's talk of a full redesign for 2008 Aveos, but we think that won't occur until at least 2009. Why? Because General Motors would likely need more than one year to recoup its investment in the restyled '07 sedan. Whenever it appears, the makeover shouldn't stray far from today's Aveo in terms of dimensions and powertrain. We give the hatchback a 50/50 chance of continuing.
