Powertrain Options and Availability
DX, LX, and EX models had a 140-horsepower four-cylinder engine; with either a five-speed manual or five-speed automatic transmission. Offered only with six-speed manual, the sporty Si held a 197-horsepower engine. Honda's Civic Hybrid sedan combined a four-cylinder gas engine with an electric motor, for 110 total horsepower. A continuously variable transmission (CVT) mated with the Hybrid's gasoline/electric power source. The new for 2008 MUGEN model used the 197-hp 2.0-liter four.
