2006 Pontiac SV6: Overview

Pontiac's minivan gets available 2nd-row side airbags for 2006. SV6 shares its design with the Buick Terraza, Chevrolet Uplander, and Saturn Relay. It comes with front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive. A 201 hp V6 engine (196 hp with AWD) and 4-speed automatic transmission are standard. Promised but not delivered during the model year was an optional 240-hp V6. Traction/antiskid control is standard on front-drive models. SV6s seat seven. They have 2nd-row buckets and a 50/50 3rd-row bench that folds flat atop the cargo floor. The 2nd- and 3rd-row seats are removable. Front side airbags are optional. A new option bundles the front side airbags with 2nd-row side airbags. All airbags provide head and torso protection. Standard features include ABS, OnStar assistance, and DVD entertainment. Load-leveling suspension is standard on AWD, optional front-drive models. Power operation for the sliding side doors is optional. Also available: sport suspension, rear obstacle detection, and remote engine. SV6's performance and accommodations mirror those of comparably equipped Uplanders.
