Vehicle Highlights
A 6-speed automatic transmission and cosmetic touch-ups mark this upper-crust convertible for 2006. SC 430 features a power-retractable metal roof and a small rear seat intended for occasional use, mainly by kids. Its 4.3-liter V8 is shared with other Lexus models. The new 6-speed automatic replaces a 5-speed unit as the only transmission. Front side airbags, ABS, and antiskid system are standard. So are 18-inch wheels, leather/wood cabin trim, navigation system, and premium Mark Levinson audio. Steering-linked headlamps are added for 2006. Options include rear spoiler and run-flat tires. The '06 SC also gets revised front-end styling, LED taillamps, and interior detail changes.
COMPETITION
Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 17 classes based on size, price, and market position. Offering more power and style than typical Sporty/Performance vehicles, Premium Sporty/Performance Cars usually cost much more and have more comfort and convenience equipment. Two-passenger convertibles and 4-seat coupes rule the roost in this class.
Our Best Buy is Chevrolet Corvette. Our Recommended picks include BMW Z4 and Mercedes-Benz CLK.
