Vehicle Highlights

This South Korean automaker redesigns its minivan for 2006 giving it larger dimensions, more power, and standard curtain side airbags. Sedona comes in a single body length that is more than 3 inches longer in wheelbase and nearly 8 inches longer overall than its 2002-2005 predecessor. The lone engine is a 244-hp 3.8-liter V6, replacing a 195-hp 3.5-liter V6. A 5-speed automatic with manual shift gate is the only transmission. Sedona offers LX and EX trim levels. Both have seven-passenger seating. The 2nd-row bucket seats slide fore and aft and can be removed. The 3rd-row bench is split 60/40 and folds into the floor. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are newly standard, as is traction/antiskid control. All Sedonas have front side airbags and curtain side airbags that cover all three seating rows. Both models have power windows in their sliding side doors. Exclusive to the EX is a Luxury Package that includes leather upholstery, sunroof, power-adjustable pedals, rear obstacle detection, and heated front seats. Also available only on the EX is a package with power sliding side doors and a power liftgate. Optional on both models is DVD entertainment. Kia says a shorter-wheelbase Sedona is due for 2007. Kia is owned by Hyundai, which offers its own version of the Sedona as the 2007 Entourage.
