S-Type occupies the middle of Jaguar's sedan range in size and price. It offers three models: the 235-hp V6 3.0, the 300-hp V8 4.2, and the supercharged 400-hp V8 R. All have a 6-speed automatic transmission. Standard are ABS, traction/antiskid control, front side airbags, and curtain side airbags. Available for 3.0 models is a Sport Package with sport suspension. A VDP Edition Package for the 4.2 includes unique interior trim and xenon headlamps. The R is distinguished by an exclusive mesh grille, and by special seats, interior trim, and xenon headlamps. Power-adjustable pedals are optional on the 3.0, standard for 4.2 and R. Other options include a navigation system and adaptive cruise control.
