Isuzu's compact pickups are based on a design shared with General Motors. Two models are offered: the i-280 and i-350. The i-280 comes as a rear-wheel-drive extended cab with rear-hinged back doors that do not open independently of the fronts. It has a 175-hp 4-cyl engine and manual or automatic transmission. Traction control is available. The i-350 comes as a 4-wheel drive crew cab with a 220-hp 5-cyl engine and automatic transmission. The 4WD has low-range gearing but should not be left engaged on dry pavement. The i-280 has a 6-ft cargo box, the i-350 a 5-ft box. ABS is standard. Curtain side airbags covering both seating rows are standard for i-350, available for i-280. The i-280 comes with a vinyl three-passenger front bench seat, and is available with rear jump seats. Available for i-280 and standard for i-350 are cloth upholstery, and power windows/locks/mirrors. The i-350 has front bucket seats and a 3-passenger rear bench. Optional for i-350 are heated power front seats and leather upholstery.
