Vehicle Highlights
Freestyle is available with a navigation system for 2006. This car-type SUV is essentially a wagon version of the Ford Five Hundred sedan. Both share a basic architecture originated by Ford-owned Volvo. Freestyle offers SE, SEL, and Limited models. All are available with front-wheel drive or with an all-wheel-drive system that lacks low-range gearing. The sole powertrain teams a 203-hp V6 with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. Traction control is standard with AWD, optional with front drive. No antiskid system is offered. Standard seating is for six and includes 2nd-row buckets and a 3rd-row bench that folds into a floorwell. An available 60/40 split folding 2nd-row bench increases capacity to seven. Freestyles have a fold-flat front passenger seatback. An option package teams front side airbags with curtain side airbags that cover all seating rows and include rollover deployment. A navigation system is newly optional and is exclusive to Limiteds. Among other available features: power-adjustable pedals, DVD entertainment, and rear obstacle detection.
