Acura debuted a thinly disguised concept dubbed RDX at the 2006 Detroit Auto Show. The RDX combines sport-utility versatility with sport-sedan handling and is slotted below Acura MDX in size and price. An innovative 240-hp 2.3-liter 4-cylinder turbocharged engine powers the RDX. Putting the power to the pavement is Acura's exclusive super handling all-wheel drive, which Acura claims enhances traction in the snow and handling on dry pavement. The 5-passenger RDX will be built on an all-new global light-truck platform and will come loaded with state-of-the-art safety features, including front, side, and curtain-side airbags with rollover sensors.

Neat features include steering wheel-mounted paddle shifters that manually operate the 5-speed automatic transmission, 19-inch alloy wheels, hid headlights, and a navigation system with voice recognition. This preview RDX provides a sneak peek at an all-new model that goes on sale this summer. The RDX will be assembled at Honda of America manufacturing in Marysville, Ohio. Pricing was not yet available.
