Nissan passed the 1 million sales mark in 2004, and the good news just keeps coming. The Japanese automaker's overall sales were up 10.3 percent in 2005. Sales of the group's compact Sentra increased by 19.9 percent last month compared with January of 2005, and Murano had its best January on record with a 38.6 percent boost in sales.

Nissan is continuing to "shift" into new markets with the all-new compact 2007 Versa hatchback, redesigned 2007 Sentra, and restyled 2007 Quest minivan seen at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show.

Nissan took the wraps off a facelifted Quest at the 2006 Chicago Auto Show, just three years after the minivan was last redesigned. Quest gets a redesigned interior, updated exterior, and more optional features for 2007. Though the model lineup remains unchanged, the interior gets a new instrument panel that sports gauges placed directly in front of the driver and repositioned shift lever. Faux wood or brushed metallic trims are also new. Third-row seats get a makeover with automatic-folding headrests and a new spring assist system, easing forward and folding motions.

Exterior revisions for this midcycle enhancement include a new Nissan-signature grille, front-bumper fascia, redesigned taillights, restyled roof rack, chrome door handles, and a new chestnut color option. Optional equipment added to the restyled '07 model includes a rearview monitoring system that projects video taken from a license plate mounted camera onto the driver's display screen, a Bluetooth hands-free phone system, and an in-dash 6-CD changer with MP3 compatibility. The 2007 Nissan Quest is scheduled to go on sale this spring.
