Hyundai's been on a roll lately, posting record sales over each of
the past five years. Hyundai also established an all-time sales record
for January this year, posting sales of 30,208 units this past month.
Leading the sales charge at Hyundai are two new sedan models. The
redesigned 2006 Sonata and all-new Azera's sales grew a combined 66
percent, compared to figures from last January.
The South Korean automaker introduced the
2007 Santa Fe and the HCD concept at the Detroit auto show. In Chicago, Hyundai introduced two new members to its lineup, the 2007 Entourage
minivan and the compact 2007 Accent hatchback.

Hyundai introduced its first minivan to the North American market at
the 2006 Chicago Auto Show. Sharing chassis and engine with the
redesigned Kia Sedona that goes on sale this spring, the Hyundai Entourage will be powered by a 244-hp 3.8-liter V6 mated to a 5-speed
automatic transmission.
As seen with Hyundai's new Azera and the recently redesigned Sonata,
the South Korean automaker is focusing on increasing standard safety
features in its new vehicles. Entourage will come equipped with
electronic stability control, traction control, an antilock brake
system with electronic brake-force distribution, six airbags including
curtain side airbags that protect all three rows of occupants, and
whiplash-protecting active head restraints for front-seat occupants. Entourage was to have been the first minivan on the market to have dual
power sliding side doors as standard equipment. However, at the last
minute, Hyundai decided to add a base model with manual sliding doors. That left power doors standard on the GLS and Limited models. Entourage
will go head-to-head with minivan rivals Honda Odyssey, Toyota Sienna,
and Dodge Caravan.
