Vehicle Highlights
The larger of Cadillac's two midsize sedans makes all-wheel drive available on its V6 model and launches a high-performance variant for 2006. Basically a stretched version of the CTS sedan, the STS offers 254-hp V6 and 320-hp V8 models, plus a new STS-V with a 469-hp supercharged V8. All use automatic transmission--the STS-V a 6-speed, the others a 5-speed; both with manual shift gate. All come with rear-wheel drive and all but the STS-V are now available with AWD. STS-V has unique trim, performance-tuned suspension, uprated brakes, and run-flat tires on 18-inch-front/19-inch-rear wheels. Others have 17-inch wheels and conventional tires. ABS and traction/antiskid control are standard. So are front side airbags, curtain side airbags, and OnStar assistance. The adaptive cruise control option includes a head-up instrument display. Also available are heated/cooled front seats and a touch-screen navigation system with voice recognition and a hands-free cell phone link. The base V8 STS is available with GM's automatic-adjusting Magnetic Ride Control shock absorbers and with performance-oriented options packages.
