Vehicle Highlights
Audi expands its A6 lineup for 2006 with a wagon body style and a front-wheel-drive sedan. A6 sedans are available as 3.2 and 4.2 models. The 3.2s have a 255-hp V6. They now come with front-wheel drive as well as with Audi's quattro all-wheel drive. The 4.2s have a 335-hp V8 and quattro. Audi calls its wagons Avants. The A6 version is a 3.2 quattro. The front-drive 3.2 sedan uses a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). Other A6s have a 6-speed automatic transmission. Front side airbags and curtain side airbags are standard; rear torso side airbags are optional. Also standard are ABS and an antiskid system. Sedans are available with Audi's S-line Package that includes a sport suspension and special trim. Available on all A6s is a suspension that adjusts for height and firmness. The wagon offers a power tailgate, and all models now have wood interior trim. All A6s also include Audi's MMI (Multi Media Interface) operating system that uses one knob on the center console to take the place of conventional dashboard controls for many of the car's accessories. Available features include a navigation system and steering-linked headlights.
