2005 Toyota Sienna Review
Sienna gets only minor changes for 2005. Models ascend through CE, LE, XLE, and leather-trimmed XLE Limited. All have a 230-hp V6 and a 5-speed automatic transmission. Front-wheel drive is standard. All but the CE are available with all-wheel drive. Antilock brakes and a tire-pressure monitor are standard. AWD versions have run-flat tires. All Siennas have a tilt/telescope steering wheel, remote keyless entry, and rear air conditioning. The sliding side doors have power-down windows. A power right-side sliding door is optional for LEs. XLEs and Limiteds come with dual power doors, power liftgate, and--new for '05--dual power front seats (vs. driver only). Seating for seven is standard and includes 2nd-row buckets and a 60/40 split folding 3rd-row bench that folds into the floor. CE and LE can carry eight via an optional 2nd-row bench; its middle section is sized for a child-safety seat. Standard on Limited are front torso airbags and head-protecting curtain side airbags covering all three seating rows. Other models offer packages that group the airbags with various features. Limiteds and AWD Siennas have 17-inch wheels vs. 16s. Exclusive to Limiteds are standard xenon headlamps, front/rear-obstacle warning, and radar cruise control. A navigation system and rear DVD entertainment are optional for most Siennas.
Competition
Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 17 classes based on size, price, and market position. Long the choice as the family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo. These vehicles offer a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.

Our Best Buys include the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, and Honda Odyssey. Recommended picks are the Mazda MPV and Toyota Sienna.
News
Though the current two-year-old Sienna shouldn't see major design changes for a while, sources expect a hybrid-power option for 2006 as a minivan first. Toyota hasn't released details yet, but the gas/electric powertrain will probably be the same one now offered in the Highlander Hybrid and Lexus RX 400h SUVs with which Sienna shares a basic platform. Keep checking back with us for further updates.
