Standard wheel size increases from 17 inches to 18 as the only 2005 change to this Japanese-built SUV. Land Cruiser is somewhat smaller but much costlier than Toyota's American-made Sequoia. The Lexus LX 470 is a luxury Land Cruiser with several exclusive features. Land Cruiser comes with a V8, 5-speed automatic transmission, and all-wheel drive that includes low-range gearing. Also standard: ABS, antiskid/traction control, power tilt/telescope steering column, and 3-row seating for eight. Front torso side airbags are optional, but include head-protecting curtain side airbags covering the 1st and 2nd rows. Also available are rear DVD entertainment and a navigation system with rearview TV camera. The navigation's dashboard screen can display DVD video with the transmission in Park, and shows a view of what's behind when backing up. Land Cruiser's performance and accommodations mirror those of comparable LX 470s.
