Vehicle Highlights
These sporty 4-cyl hatchback coupes are virtually unchanged for 2005, which Toyota says will be their final model year. Celica offers a 140-hp GT model with standard 5-speed manual transmission and a 180-hp GT-S with 6-speed manual. Automatic transmission is available for both and provides the GT-S with steering-wheel buttons for manual shifting. Other shared options include ABS, front side airbags, xenon headlamps, remote keyless entry, sunroof, and rear spoiler. Both also offer an Action Package with rear spoiler and "aero" lower-body panels. Exclusive GT-S options include leather upholstery and 16-inch wheels instead of 15s.
COMPETITION
Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 17 classes based on size, price, and market position. The Sporty/Performance Car class consists of two-seat roadsters, 4-cyl hatchbacks, and V8 muscle cars. Regardless of configuration, all have an emphasis on affordable performance.
