Trouble Spots

Consumer Guide's® Auto Editors have scoured repair bulletins and questioned mechanics to search for commonly occurring problems for a particular vehicle. In some cases we also give possible manufacturer-suggested solutions. In many instances these trouble spots are Technical Service Bulletins posted by the manufacturer, however, we have our own expert looking at additional vehicle problems.

Audio system: Clicking and popping sounds from the speakers can be traced to cellular phones pinging transmitters. (2004-06)

Check-engine light: The check engine light may illuminate and set a trouble code for a problem with the front oxygen sensor due to faulty terminals in a wiring connector. (2004-06)

Keys: The key may get stuck in the ignition due to maladjustment of the transmission-key interlock cable or because of interference between the cable and the parking brake cable. (2004-05)

Transmission slippage: Transmission may slip or flare between second and third gear requiring reprogramming the powertrain control module. (2004-06)

Wipers: The windshield wiper fuse may blow if there is a buildup of snow on the windshield and replacing the 15 amp fuse with one rated 20 amps is suggested. (2004-05)
