Powertrain Options and Availability
Base Corvettes have a 400-hp 6.0-liter V8 engine. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard, and a 6-speed automatic is optional. Corvette Z06 has a 505-hp 7.0-liter V8 and mandatory 6-speed manual. For 2008, base models got a new 430-hp 6.2-liter V8 engine that replaced a 400-hp 6.0-liter V8.
