You'll save thousands by buying an Ascender instead of the related GMC Envoy, but--considering the points brought up in our overall evaluation--this might be one of those cases where the expression "You get what you pay for" has some meaning.

Two thoughts: First, Displacement On Demand just isn't enough. GM needs to lighten this bad boy, and slap a 5-speed auto in there. Second: I wish Isuzu would give it up. If the best they can do is resell a single, marginally competitive SUV, their time has come. Daihatsu and Daewoo are waiting.
