2005 Hyundai Sonata: Overview

Heated front seats are newly available for Hyundai's midsize sedan. Sonata continues in GL, GLS, and LX trim and, for 2005, adds a GLS Special Value version that is the only model with heated front seats. GL models have a 138-hp 4-cly engine and a manual transmission or an automatic with manual shift gate. GL V6, GLS, and LX models have a 170-hp V6 and the automatic. Front side airbags are standard. All models have 4-wheel disc brakes. ABS is optional. Traction control is available on GLS versions and the LX. Also for '05, a universal garage-door opener is new and included on the GLS Special Value and LX. This South Korean automaker's basic warranty is among the industry's longest: 5-years/60,000-mi. bumper-to-bumper, 10/100,000 powertrain. Sonata shares its mechanical components with the Kia Optima.
