Vehicle Highlights
An outdoor-enthusiast option package and a navigation system highlight 2005 additions to Dodge's midsize SUV. Durango comes as an SXT model with two rows of seats for 5-passenger capacity, and as SLT and Limited models that seat seven on three rows. A 3rd-row seat is optional on SXT. Durango offers rear-wheel drive and two all-wheel-drive systems, one with low-range gearing. Three engines are available: a 210-hp V6, a 230-hp 4.7 V8, and Chrysler's 335-hp 5.7-liter "Hemi" V8. V6 models come with a 4-speed automatic transmission; V8s have a 5-speed automatic with tow/haul mode. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. Traction control is optional, but no antiskid system is offered. Also optional are head-protecting curtain side airbags that cover all three seating rows. Torso side airbags are unavailable. Durango's liftgate does not have separate-opening glass and is unavailable with power assist. The 3rd-row seat drops flat to the floor and is available in a split folding design. Leather upholstery is standard on Limited, optional on SLT. Other available features include adjustable brake and accelerator pedals, rear DVD entertainment, satellite radio, sunroof, and Chrysler's UConnect, which uses the audio system as a hands-free, wireless link to cell phones. Added for '05 SLT models is the Adventurer Package, which includes a rubber cargo-area liner with built-in cargo organizer, special roof rack, and unique trim. Also for '05, the navigation system is a new Limited-model option, and heated front seats are now available on SLT as well as Limited.
