Vehicle Highlights
Venture loses its regular-length and all-wheel-drive models for a shortened 2005 season. It's being phased out for a restyled replacement, the '05 Uplander, expected by early calendar 2005. The related Pontiac Montana also makes a brief last stand before being reborn as the Montana SV6. Venture offers Plus, LS, and LT models. All have a 3.4-liter V6, automatic transmission, and front-wheel drive. Traction control is optional for LS, standard on LT. Front side airbags and ABS are optional for Plus, standard otherwise, but head-protecting curtain side airbags aren't offered. Power right-side and left-side doors are available for LS and LT. The standard 7-passenger seating includes a 2-person 2nd-row bench and a 3-place 50/50 split folding 3rd-row bench. LS and LT offer package options with dual captain chairs or triple buckets in the 2nd row, plus a stowable 3rd-row seat. Also available are rear-obstacle warning, GM's OnStar assistance and, for LS/LT, satellite radio and CD/MP3 player. Rear DVD entertainment is included on LT, available for LS. Also available are 16-inch chrome wheels, firmer suspension with rear self leveling, tachometer, and onboard air compressor.
COMPETITION
Consumer Guide® Automotive places each vehicle into one of 17 classes based on size, price, and market position. Long the choice as the family hauler, Minivans are easily the smartest use of space for passengers and cargo. These vehicles offer a fantastic blend of comfort, convenience, and safety features for the modern family.
Our Best Buys include the Chrysler Town & Country, Dodge Caravan, and Honda Odyssey. Recommended picks are the Mazda MPV and Toyota Sienna.
