Who needs overhead cams when pushrods can be this cool? I'd take a Corvette over an SSR in a heartbeat. It's not nearly as fun to drive as your average $43,000 sports car and doesn't handle nearly as well. At least the new engine makes it fast, but the only reason to buy this beast is to get noticed.

What's not to like about a 390-hp 6-speed convertible with a big trunk? Quite a lot, actually. Most has to do with the driving environment. It took awhile to get used to the claustrophobic accommodations--which isn't to say I ever got to LIKING them--the interior storage is dismal, and there are plenty of rattles to remind you that the SSR is about one step away from a kit car. That said, its large "trunk" makes it far more practical than many of the breed (I would imagine four sets of golf clubs would fit inside), and performance is exhilarating if not heart-stopping. In all fairness, the potent '05 version offers a lot of style, individuality, and power for the money, and probably rates as one of the most practical "boutique" cars out there.
