This is one heck of a car. It provides excellent power, ambience, handling, room, and ride. I'd like to see the price lower than the $49,000 sticker, but even at that price it deserves our Recommended rating.

Regardless of price the RL is a very impressive car. At a tick under $50,000 is soundly bests competition in just about every driving dynamic. Though it has boring styling and no V8, it is still worth a look for those wanting luxury, technology with responsibility.

Aside from what is becoming the typical premium-car problem of too many functions controlled by confusing buttons and joystick actions, the RL suffers few flaws. Yet good as it is, it's a bit difficult to justify the price. Audi provides a V8 for about the same money, and a similarly equipped Infiniti G35X is at least 10 grand less.
