Vehicle Highlights
Luxury limited-edition 2004 models bring down the curtain on the current versions of Volvo's entry-level cars. The slow-selling S40 sedan and V40 wagon share a turbo 4-cyl engine and 5-speed automatic transmission. Front side airbags, head-protecting curtain side airbags, and antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard. Traction control, a sunroof, leather upholstery, and integrated dual rear child-booster seats are options. The new S40/V40 LSE is distinguished by color-contrasting exterior and special alloy wheels. LSE production is limited to a combined total of 2500. This Swedish automaker is owned by Ford. In the Spring of 2004, the current S40 will be replaced by redesigned "2004.5" S40s powered by regular and turbocharged 5-cyl engines. The S40 will be followed a few months later by the wagon version, called V50. At that point, both sedan and wagon will be designated as 2005 models, and are expected to offer all-wheel drive.
