Vehicle Highlights
Solara is essentially a 2-dr version of Toyota's Camry sedan and is redesigned for 2004 using the latest Camry platform. Solara is available as a coupe and as a convertible with power top and heated glass rear window. Styling is new, and the car gains about 2 inches in wheelbase and height, 1 in overall length. Coupes come in SE, SE Sport, and luxury SLE versions, while convertibles come in SE and SLE trim. Coupes offer a carryover 157-hp 4-cyl engine and a new 225-hp 3.3-liter V6, which replaces a 198-hp 3.0; convertibles get the V6. The 4-cyl models offer a 5-speed manual transmission or optional 4-speed automatic. V6 Solaras come only with a 5-speed automatic. SE Sports feature unique lower-body styling, performance-tuned suspension, and 17-inch wheels. SLE coupes and both convertibles also have 17-inch wheels; SE coupes have 16s. All Solaras have antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and front side airbags. New options include curtain side airbags (for coupes), satellite radio, and navigation system.
