Vehicle Highlights
America's only import-brand 6-passenger sedan continues in 2004 form until early calendar 2005, when a redesigned replacement is expected. Avalon is based on Toyota's 1997-2001 Camry sedan. XL and uplevel XLS models include a 3.0-liter V6, automatic transmission, antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, and front side airbags. Both offer an antiskid system with traction control and full-power brake assist, plus either front bucket seats or a front bench for 6-passenger capacity. Exclusive to XLS is an optional DVD navigation system with dashboard screen and remote control for use by passengers.
