Trouble Spots

Consumer Guide's® Auto Editors have scoured repair bulletins and questioned mechanics to search for commonly occurring problems for a particular vehicle. In some cases we also give possible manufacturer-suggested solutions. In many instances these trouble spots are Technical Service Bulletins posted by the manufacturer, however, we have our own expert looking at additional vehicle problems.

Audio system: The CD player may stop or pause intermittently and a revised unit with a new microprocessor was released as a correction. (2004) The Bazooka bass tube may rattle unless a revised hardware mounting kit is installed (2004-05)

Fuel pump: May be difficult to refuel because nozzle keeps clicking off, requiring installation of an improved fuel tank with filler pipe. (2004-05)

Steering problems: Damage to the steering angle sensor by an electrical connector in the column causes the ABS/VSC warning light to come on. (2004)

Transmission problems: Vehicle may have a sloppy (loose feeling) shift lever, requiring service to adjust the shift cable. (2004-05)

Water leak: The passenger side floor may get wet because the A/C condensate drain hose comes off the housing. (2004-06)

The dollar amount includes the cost of the part(s) and labor (based on $50 per hour) for the typical repair without extras or add-ons.
