The turbo really gives this car the shot that it needed. Materials and cache fall a little short of the $27,000 price tag, but utility, 4WD, and a generally solid build make this vehicle a fine value.

At over $27,000 the Forester XT is one of the most expensive compact SUVs we've tested. It is a good runner and fun to drive, but not enough room in the back seat.

There's little to complain about save for soft off-the-line response, yet I'm having a hard time saying this XT is worth (gulp) $28,000.
