Vehicle Highlights
A name change and a return to standard antilock brakes highlight the new year for Saturn's midsize sedans and wagons. Previously L-Series, all models are now called L300, regardless of engine or body type. L300 uses Saturn's dent- and rust-resistant polymer panels for the front fenders, doors, and bumper fascias; other body parts are steel. Four-cylinder and V6 engines are available. Both come only with a four-speed automatic transmission; last year's standard 5-speed manual has been dropped. After being relegated to the options list last year, antilock brakes are again standard, as is traction control. Head-protecting curtain side airbags are also standard. Options include heated front seats, leather upholstery, rear DVD entertainment, and GM's OnStar assistance.
