Vehicle Highlights
The first V8 Bonneville since 1986 launched midyear to headline Pontiac's flagship sedan. Called the GXP, it uses a 275-hp version of Cadillac's 4.6-liter Northstar V8. It replaces as the top Bonneville the 240-hp supercharged V6 SSEi, which was not renewed for the 2004 model year. GXP joins SE and SLE models, which use a nonsupercharged V6. All Bonnevilles have a 4-speed automatic transmission and come with antilock 4-wheel disc brakes, tire-pressure monitor, and load-leveling rear suspension. Front bucket seats are standard. SE offers an optional front bench seat for 6-passenger capacity. Front side airbags are standard on GXP, optional for SE and SLE. Curtain side airbags are unavailable. Traction control and OnStar assistance are standard on SLE and GXP, optional for SE. XM satellite radio is available for all. SEs have 16-inch wheels, SLEs 17s. GXPs include 18s, plus upgraded suspension and brakes, GM's Stabilitrak antiskid system, dual-zone climate control, 12-way power front seats, leather/suede upholstery, and satin-nickel interior accents.
