Vehicle Highlights
A larger standard V6 marks the 2004 edition of this truck-based SUV. Montero Sport comes in LS and XLS trim. Both use the 197-hp 3.5-liter V6 that previously was exclusive to the XLS. It replaces a 165-hp 3.0 V6 in the LS. A 4-speed automatic is the only transmission. Both models offer rear-wheel drive or Mitsubishi's All4-Wheel Drive that can be left engaged on dry pavement and includes low-range gearing. ABS is standard on 4WD versions, unavailable with 2WD. Side airbags are not offered. Leather upholstery is optional for XLS models.
