Vehicle Highlights
The Ford F-250/350 Super Duty competes with heavy-duty pickup trucks from Chevrolet, Dodge, and GMC. The F-250 is considered a 3/4-ton model while the F-350 is a 1-ton. Both models encompass rear- or 4-wheel drive that should not be left engaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. Bodystyles include a 2-dr regular cab, extended SuperCab with rear half-doors, and full 4-dr crew cab. Cargo beds are 6.75 or 8 feet. All models come standard with antilock 4-wheel disc brakes and dual front airbags. A rear-obstacle detection system is optional. Engine offerings include a 5.4-liter V8, a 6.8-liter V10, and a 6.0-liter turbodiesel V8. A 6-speed manual transmission is standard with all engines. The 6.0 turbodiesel can be ordered with a 5-speed automatic; the gas engines have an available 4-speed automatic.
Changes for 2004 include a Harley-Davidson edition, an optional power sliding rear window on SuperCab and crew cab, and minor interior revisions highlighted by new radios and grocery bag hooks. The Super Duty line also offers F-450/550/650 chassis with numerous special options.
