2004 Ford F-150 Heritage: Overview

Ford sells two generations of its F-150 pickup for 2004. Selected versions of the 1997-vintage design carry on as the F-150 Heritage through the '04 model year. They're sold alongside the redesigned F-150 pickup (see separate report).

Heritage comes in XL and XLT trim in regular-cab and extended SuperCab form. The 4-dr crew-cab SuperCrew is available only in the redesigned F-150. Regular cabs have two side doors. SuperCab extended cabs add two back-hinged rear doors that do not open independently of the front doors. SuperCabs include a 3-passenger rear bench seat. Both cabs offer 6.5- or 8-ft flat-side Styleside cargo beds; there's also a 6.5-ft flare-fender Flareside for regular cabs. Heritage is available with rear-wheel drive or 4WD that must be disengaged on dry pavement but includes low-range gearing. Engines are a 4.2-liter V6 or 4.6-liter V8. The V6 comes with manual or automatic transmission, the V8 with automatic only. Antilock 4-wheel disc brakes are standard.

Also carried over is the high-performance SVT Lightning, with a supercharged 5.4-liter V8 and sport suspension. For '04, the Harley-Davidson Edition moves to the F-250 HD line as a 4WD SuperCab or SuperCrew with a 6.8-liter V10 or 6.0-liter turbodiesel V8.
