Vehicle Highlights
Dodge's Stratus has a divided parentage: Sedans have a Chrysler-based design shared with the Chrysler Sebring sedan. Stratus coupes have a Mitsubishi-based design shared with the Chrysler Sebring coupe.
Sedans get revised front styling for 2004 that mimics the coupes'. Sedans started the year in SE, SXT, ES, and sporty R/T models; at midyear, the SE and ES were dropped. Chrysler-made 2.4-liter 4-cyl and 2.7-liter V6 engines are offered. All sedans have a 4-speed automatic transmission; the R/T includes a manual shift gate. R/T also has 4-wheel disc brakes and traction control. ABS is standard on R/T, optional on other sedans. Head-protecting curtain side airbags are optional; no torso side airbags are offered.
Coupes use powertrains and platforms from Mitsubishi's Eclipse and Galant. They continue in 2.4-liter 4-cyl SXT and 3.0-liter V6 R/T models, both with manual or automatic transmission. The R/T's automatic is available with manual shift gate. R/T comes with 4-wheel disc brakes and offers optional ABS; neither are available on SXT.
