Vehicle Highlights
Dodge commemorates 20 years of its Caravan minivan with a special Anniversary Edition option package. The 2004 lineup ascends through regular-length models in SE and SXT trim, and extended-length Grand Caravans in SE, eX, and SXT trim. These have front-wheel drive. The Grand Caravan SXT AWD has all-wheel drive. Regular-length models use a 4-cyl engine or a 3.3-liter V6. Grands get the 3.3 V6 or a 3.8 V6. All use a 4-speed automatic transmission. All Caravans seat seven. The 3rd-row seats don't fold into the floor, but a 50-50 split 3rd-row bench is available. Each portion weighs 55 lb and can be removed, reclined, or folded flat. ABS is unavailable on the regular-length SE, optional on the regular-length SXT, and standard on other Caravans. Front side airbags are optional. Curtain side airbags are unavailable. Grand eX and SXT models have power operation for both sliding side doors; a power passenger-side sliding door is optional on the regular-length SXT. Power liftgate, power sunroof, and rear DVD entertainment are optional on Grand eX and SXT, which have a standard tire-pressure monitor. An available center console with internal power outlet can be placed between the front or 2nd-row seats, and the optional adjustable-height rear parcel shelf has pop-up storage dividers. Power-adjustable brake and accelerator pedals are optional on all models. The Anniversary Edition is an option exclusive to the Grand Caravan SXT. It includes chrome alloy wheels, rear DVD entertainment, CD changer, leather upholstery, and unique badging. Caravan shares its design with the Chrysler Town & Country. Expected in Spring 2004 as an early '05 model is a revised Caravan featuring available curtain side airbags along with 2nd- and 3rd-row seats that fold flat with the floor. However, all-wheel drive will be dropped.
