Vehicle Highlights
Chevrolet's aging subcompact adds a discounted coupe model for mid 2004. Cavalier offers coupes and sedans in 1SV, base, LS, and top-line LS Sport trim. All use a 4-cyl engine with manual transmission or optional automatic except the 1SV, which is manual only. ABS is optional for base models, standard on LS and LS Sport. Front side airbags, optional linewide except 1SV, provide torso as well as head protection. Other options include OnStar assistance for LS and LS Sport, and satellite radio. LS Sport adds lower-body flares and a rear spoiler. It comes with a firmer suspension and 16-inch alloy wheels that are also included in the base model's Sport Appearance package. Other Cavaliers use 14- or 15-inch wheels. Available for 2004 is a CD player that reads MP3-formatted discs. The new 1SV coupe is priced thousands less than the base coupe and comes with a CD player, but offers no options. Pontiac's Sunfire shares Cavalier's basic design, but doesn't offer a sedan model.
